Interior demolition covers everything inside the four walls of a building. Drywall that needs to come down, flooring that needs to come up, non-load-bearing walls that need to disappear, drop ceilings that are outdated, and built-in features that no longer serve a purpose. Whether you are renovating a single room or gutting an entire floor, the demolition phase sets the stage for everything that follows. A1 Junk Removal and Tree Service handles interior demolition projects across the Omaha metro for both homeowners and contractors.
We've stripped rooms down to the studs in homes across Omaha, removed drop ceilings in commercial spaces in Bellevue, pulled up carpet and tile in rental properties in Papillion, and cleared out entire floors of old office buildings. No project is too small and most projects are within our scope. If you need the inside of a building torn apart and hauled away, that's what we do.
What We Remove
Drywall Removal
Full wall removal or partial drywall tearout. We remove drywall, lath and plaster, paneling, and wallboard. Drywall removal creates a huge amount of dust — we take precautions to contain it and clean up thoroughly.
Flooring Removal
Carpet, tile, hardwood, laminate, vinyl, and linoleum. We pull up the flooring and the underlayment beneath it, leaving clean subfloor for your installer. Multiple layers of old flooring stacked on top of each other are common in older homes — we remove them all.
Non-Load-Bearing Wall Removal
Opening up floor plans by removing interior walls. We verify the wall is non-structural, remove the drywall, pull out the framing, and patch the ceiling and floor where the wall used to be. This is one of the most popular renovation projects we handle.
Drop Ceiling Removal
Suspended ceiling grids, tiles, and support wires. Common in basements and commercial spaces. We remove the entire grid system and all the tiles, leaving the original ceiling exposed and clean.
Built-In and Fixture Removal
Built-in bookshelves, closet systems, window seats, old cabinetry, and any other permanent fixtures that need to come out. We remove them cleanly and patch what we can.
Complete Interior Gut-Outs
Everything inside comes out — walls, ceilings, flooring, fixtures, trim, and doors. We leave the structural shell and nothing else. This is common for major renovations and property flips.

How Interior Demolition Works
We start every interior demolition project with a walkthrough to understand exactly what's coming out and what's staying. This prevents mistakes and helps us give you an accurate price. Once we start, we work systematically — ceilings first, then walls, then flooring. This top-down approach keeps the workspace safe and efficient.
Debris removal happens continuously throughout the project. We don't let materials pile up inside the work area — as sections come down, they go straight to the truck. This keeps the space safe and makes the work go faster. When we're done, we do a final sweep and cleanup so the space is ready for the next phase of your project.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you tell if a wall is load-bearing?
We can identify most non-load-bearing walls based on their location and framing. However, if there's any question, we recommend having a structural engineer or your general contractor confirm before we remove it. We never remove a wall we're not sure about.
How much dust does interior demolition create?
A lot. Drywall and plaster removal in particular creates significant dust. We use plastic sheeting to contain the work area and clean up thoroughly when we're done. If you're living in the home during the work, we'll seal off the demo area from the rest of the house.
Do you handle asbestos or lead paint?
No. If your home was built before 1980, there may be asbestos in flooring, ceiling tiles, or insulation, and lead paint on walls and trim. These require licensed abatement professionals. We can proceed with demolition after abatement is complete.
Can you do selective demolition — just part of a room?
Absolutely. We do selective demolition all the time. Remove one wall but leave the others. Pull up the flooring but leave the trim. Take out the drop ceiling but leave the drywall. You tell us what goes and what stays.
