Remodeling a kitchen starts with tearing the old one out. That means ripping out cabinets that have been screwed and glued to the walls for decades, pulling up flooring that might have three layers underneath it, removing countertops that weigh more than you expect, and hauling every bit of it away. Most homeowners underestimate how much work kitchen demolition actually is — and how much debris it creates. A1 Junk Removal and Tree Service handles kitchen demolition across the Omaha metro. We do the tearout, load everything onto our trucks, and leave your space ready for the remodel crew.
We've gutted kitchens in Millard where the cabinets were original to the house, pulled up tile floors in Papillion that had been laid over vinyl over hardwood, and removed entire kitchen islands in Elkhorn that were built like bunkers. Whether you're doing a full gut-out or just removing specific components, we handle it all in one visit.
What We Remove
Cabinet Removal
Upper cabinets, lower cabinets, pantry units, and built-in shelving. We unscrew, pry, and pull them off the walls — including any backing, brackets, and hardware. Cabinets that were glued, nailed, and screwed all at once are no problem.
Countertop Removal
Granite, quartz, laminate, butcher block, tile, and concrete countertops. We disconnect from the base cabinets and haul them out. Heavy stone countertops require extra care to avoid wall and floor damage — we handle that.
Flooring Removal
Tile, vinyl, linoleum, hardwood, and laminate. Kitchen floors often have multiple layers built up over the years. We pull up everything down to the subfloor so your installer starts with a clean surface.
Appliance Removal
Refrigerators, stoves, ovens, dishwashers, microwaves, range hoods, and garbage disposals. We disconnect (non-gas), remove, and haul away. See our appliance removal page for more details.
Backsplash and Tile
Ceramic tile, glass tile, stone, and peel-and-stick backsplash. We remove it all and clean up the wall surface behind it. Tile removal creates a lot of dust and debris — we contain and clean up as we go.
Complete Kitchen Gut-Outs
Everything comes out — cabinets, countertops, flooring, backsplash, appliances, light fixtures, and anything else in the kitchen. We leave you with bare walls, subfloor, and a clean space ready for your contractor.

How Kitchen Demolition Works
We start by disconnecting and removing appliances first — refrigerators, dishwashers, stoves, and anything else that needs to come out before the teardown begins. Then we work from the top down: upper cabinets come off the walls first, followed by countertops, lower cabinets, and finally the flooring. This order keeps the workspace manageable and prevents damage to components we haven't removed yet.
All debris gets loaded directly onto our trucks as we go. Kitchen demolition creates a surprising amount of waste — a typical kitchen gut-out fills at least one full truck load. We sweep and clean the space when we're done so your contractor or installer can start work immediately. Most kitchen demolitions take one day, though larger or more complex kitchens may take a bit longer.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a kitchen demolition take?
Most standard kitchen demolitions take 4-8 hours depending on the size and what needs to come out. A full gut-out of a large kitchen with tile floors and stone countertops may take a full day.
Do you disconnect gas appliances?
No. Gas disconnection must be done by a licensed plumber or the gas company before we arrive. We handle everything else — electric appliances, plumbing disconnects for dishwashers and sinks, and all the removal work.
Will you damage my walls during cabinet removal?
Some minor wall repair is usually needed after cabinet removal — that's normal. We're careful to minimize damage, but cabinets that were glued and screwed to drywall will leave marks. Your contractor will patch and prep the walls during the remodel.
Do you haul away all the debris?
Yes. Everything we tear out gets loaded onto our trucks and hauled away. You don't need to rent a dumpster or make any trips to the dump. The price we quote includes all labor and hauling.
