EXPERT TREE TRIMMING OMAHA
Professional Trimming, Shaping, and Pruning for Healthier Trees
Overgrown trees don't just look rough — they cause problems. Branches scrape the siding. Limbs hang over the roof. The canopy gets so thick that the grass underneath gives up. And when a storm rolls through, all that extra weight turns into a hazard.
A1 Junk Removal and Tree Service handles tree trimming across the Omaha metro area. We trim, prune, and shape trees to keep them healthy, keep your property safe, and keep your yard looking the way you want it to.
We're not a franchise crew reading from a manual. We've trimmed thousands of trees in neighborhoods from Benson to Bellevue, and we know what works for the trees that grow here — elms, oaks, maples, lindens, and everything else Nebraska throws at us.
What We Trim
Overgrown Canopies
When the tree has gotten too big for its space — blocking light, crowding the house, or shading out the lawn. We thin the canopy and raise the crown so air and light can get through.
Dead and Damaged Branches
Dead wood is a falling hazard. We remove dead, broken, and hanging branches before they come down on their own — which always happens at the worst possible time.
Branches Near Structures
Limbs rubbing against the roof, pushing into gutters, or growing into power lines. We cut them back to a safe distance without butchering the tree.
Clearance Trimming
Low-hanging branches over driveways, sidewalks, and patios. We raise the canopy so you can walk, park, and mow without ducking.

How We Approach a Trim
We don't just show up and start cutting. Every tree gets a look before we touch it. We check the species, the structure, what's growing where it shouldn't, and what the tree actually needs.
Some trees need a full crown thinning — removing select interior branches to reduce wind resistance and let light through. Others just need deadwood cleaned out and a few problem limbs taken back. We make cuts at the branch collar, the way arborists are trained to, so the tree heals properly and doesn't rot from bad cuts.
All the brush and branches get cleaned up. We chip everything on-site and either haul the chips away or spread them in your beds if you want them. When we leave, the only thing on the ground is a cleaner-looking yard.
Why Regular Trimming Matters
Trees that don't get trimmed become problems. Dead branches fall. Overgrown canopies catch wind like a sail and split during storms. Limbs that rub against the roof wear through shingles. And a tree that's never been shaped just looks neglected.
Regular trimming keeps the tree healthy, reduces storm damage risk, and keeps your property looking maintained. Most trees in the Omaha area benefit from trimming every 2-3 years, depending on the species and how fast they grow.
Trimming vs. Topping
We don't top trees. Topping — cutting the main leaders flat across the top — is one of the worst things you can do to a tree. It triggers a burst of weak, fast-growing shoots that are more prone to breaking than the original branches. It also opens the tree up to disease and decay.
If someone tells you a tree needs to be topped, what it probably needs is a proper crown reduction or thinning by someone who knows what they're doing. That's what we provide. If the tree is too far gone and trimming won't help, we'll tell you honestly that removal is the better option.
Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time to trim trees in Omaha?
Late winter to early spring — while the tree is still dormant — is ideal for most species. But dead and hazardous branches can and should be removed any time of year. We trim year-round.
How much does tree trimming cost?
It depends on the size of the tree, how much work it needs, and access. A single ornamental tree is going to cost less than a 60-foot oak hanging over the house. We give free estimates on every job.
Will trimming hurt my tree?
Not when it's done right. Proper pruning cuts at the branch collar allow the tree to seal the wound and continue growing healthy. Bad cuts — like topping or flush cuts — are what damage trees.
Do you clean up all the branches?
Yes. We chip all the brush on-site and either haul it away or leave the chips for your garden beds. We rake and blow the area clean before we leave.
