Serving Omaha Metro
Concrete doesn't last forever. Driveways crack and heave from Nebraska's freeze-thaw cycles. Sidewalks become trip hazards. Patios settle and slope toward the house. Old foundations from demolished structures sit unused in the yard. When concrete has reached the end of its life, it needs to be broken up, loaded, and hauled away — and concrete is heavy. A single driveway can weigh 10 tons or more. A1 Junk Removal and Tree Service handles concrete removal across the Omaha metro. We break it up, load it, and haul it to recycling facilities.
We've removed cracked driveways in Millard, broken up old sidewalks in Benson, hauled away patio slabs in Papillion, and demolished concrete steps and foundations across the metro. Residential and light commercial concrete removal — if it's concrete and it needs to go, we handle it.
What We Remove
Driveway Removal
Full driveway removal or partial sections. We break up the concrete with jackhammers and equipment, load the pieces onto our trucks, and haul them to concrete recycling facilities. Driveways are one of the largest concrete removal projects — they generate a lot of heavy debris.
Sidewalk Removal
City sidewalks, private walkways, and front entry paths. Cracked and heaved sidewalks are trip hazards and code violations. We break them up and haul them away. If the city has flagged your sidewalk for replacement, we can handle the removal so your concrete contractor can pour new.
Patio and Slab Removal
Poured concrete patios, stamped concrete, and utility slabs. We break up the concrete and remove the gravel base if needed. Patio removal often goes hand-in-hand with deck demolition projects.
Concrete Step Removal
Front steps, back steps, porch steps, and basement stairwells. Concrete steps are often poured as a single heavy unit — we break them apart and haul them away piece by piece.
Foundation Removal
Old garage foundations, shed pads, outbuilding foundations, and any other concrete structures that need to come out. We break up the concrete, remove any rebar or wire mesh, and haul everything away.
Curb and Retaining Wall Removal
Concrete curbing, small retaining walls, and landscape borders. We break them up and haul them away. Larger retaining walls that serve a structural purpose should be assessed by an engineer before removal.

How Concrete Removal Works
Concrete removal starts with scoring or cutting the slab into manageable sections using a concrete saw. Then we use jackhammers to break the sections apart. The broken concrete gets loaded onto our trucks and trailers with equipment or by hand, depending on access. Rebar and wire mesh get cut and separated during the process.
Concrete is one of the heaviest materials we haul. A 4-inch thick, 20x20 foot patio weighs approximately 5 tons. Driveways can weigh significantly more. This is why concrete removal is priced based on the square footage and thickness of the slab. We haul concrete to recycling facilities where it gets crushed and reused as aggregate for new construction projects. After removal, we grade the area and leave it clean.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does concrete removal cost?
Pricing is based on the square footage, thickness, and accessibility of the concrete. Thin sidewalks cost less per square foot than thick driveways. We provide a firm quote after measuring and assessing the job — no surprises.
Can you remove concrete with rebar?
Yes. Reinforced concrete with rebar or wire mesh takes more time and effort to break up and separate, but we handle it regularly. The rebar gets cut and recycled separately from the concrete.
What do you do with the old concrete?
We haul it to concrete recycling facilities where it gets crushed and reused as aggregate for road base and new construction. Concrete recycling keeps it out of landfills and gives it a second life.
Can you remove just a section of a driveway?
Yes. Partial concrete removal is common — maybe just the cracked section needs to go, or you want to narrow the driveway to add landscaping. We can cut and remove specific sections while leaving the rest intact.
